"If it goes around, you can make it come around with Rotate!"
What Is Rotate?
ROTATE
is ATA Engineering's software package for analyzing noise and vibration
from time waveform and tachometer (or other machine speed) signals. The
latest release offers many new analysis features including the
Vold-Kalman filter, additional data input types and an updated
interface. ROTATE PLUS is for advanced analyses, diagnostics and
maintenance of machinery, including transmissions, bearings and
planetary gears. It post-processes vibration and other types of data
from many different data recorders.
Great waterfalls! Super spectrograms! The best cursors
in the industry – plus Order Tracking and Torsional Vibration
Analysis! All in a program that is easy enough for a rookie technician
to use and capable enough for a rocket scientist to really use. If you
are familiar with the Windows environment, you’ll feel right at
home with Rotate– its ergonomics are Windows-based.
Who Needs Rotate?
Anyone who diagnoses and troubleshoots machinery with
rotating or reciprocating parts, or who analyzes acoustic data. This
includes engineers, machinery vibration technicians, and consultants
engaged in product development, predictive maintenance, and
troubleshooting. Some of the industries include automotive, aviation,
pulp and paper, rolling mills, power generation, manufacturing and
marine.
Some of the many current users of ROTATE/ROTATE PLUS:
- NASA
- AK Steel
- Allied Signal
- Mercury Marine
- General Motors, Inc
- Ford Motor Company
- Honda
|
- Honeywell
- John Deere and Company
- Cummins Engine Company
- Alcoa
- Faurecia
- Renault Sport
- National Renewable Energy Labs

If you design, manufacture, or service mechanical equipment, you worry
about noise and vibration. Solving vibration problems calls for
engineering detective work. You look for clues and work backwards to
the source of the problem. ATA's Rotate can make the job of locating
the source of noise and vibration easier by handling data analysis
right on your PC. The fast speed and high quality of Rotate’s
waterfalls and color contour plots can help you to see trouble areas
easily while the precision of its order tracking and cursors will help
to pinpoint the problems.
Try Rotate for resonance searches, signature analysis,
performance analysis, dynamic fatigue analysis, balancing and general
troubleshooting with exceedingly good results. And now, with batch
capabilities and torsional vibration analysis! Kiss shaft-mounted
transducers good-bye with Rotate Torsional Vibration Analysis. No more
telemetry or slip rings needed!! Rotate can provide you with a complete
kinematical description of angular (torsional) vibrations by observing
encoder signals—or counting teeth on flywheels.
ROTATE and ROTATE Plus
Rotate Plus is all the software you need to perform
advanced analysis and maintenance functions on rotating and
reciprocating machinery. With its ability to resample to the angle
domain, it can make sense out of the most "dysfunctional" families of
harmonics. These large families of harmonics are found in
transmissions, bearings and gears where re-sampling to the angle domain
pulls out information that fell between the cracks in the noise
floor. We've incorporated some special cursors to help you
recognize your vibration sources: sideband, gearbox families and
rolling element bearing families, plus new analysis functions and
capabilities.
Rotate Plus includes all the features of Rotate in addition to:
- Order tracking with amplitude and phase
- Elementary torsional vibration analysis
- Great graphics- waterfalls, spectrograms, bode plots, cursors
- Acoustic, whole body and hand-arm weightings
- Sound replay of any time history
- We've incorporated some special cursors to help
you recognize your vibration sources, plus new analysis functions and
capabilities in Rotate PLUS.
- Bearing, sideband, gearbox and planetary gearbox cursors
- Order normalization and order zoom
- Advanced Torsional Analysis with high speed
counters for windup, torque, transmission error and belt drive
dynamics, and calibration for uneven spacing
- Envelope and Cepstrum analysis and phase demodulation
- RPM traces from waterfalls
- AC coupling and down-sampling
Rotate Plus demos and previews on selected topics:
Problems requiring Rotate Plus include the following:
- Identifying individual vibration frequencies in Hz, RPM, or Orders.
- Identifying resonance.
- Dynamic fatigue analysis on the sprung side.
- Torsional vibration analysis without the use of slip rings, shaft-mounted transducers, or telemetry.
- Identifying problems in variable-speed machinery, particularly when the speed changes rapidly or over a large range.
- Troubleshooting intermittent problems that may require hours of data recording.
- Identifying early-stage bearing and gearbox defects.
- Creating a machine speed (RPM) history from vibration data alone (without a tachometer signal).
- Separating order-related vibration from non-order related vibration.
- Identifying problems in crowded, noisy signals from gearboxes and transmissions with closely-spaced and crossing orders.
- Diagnosing machinery when there is a noisy tachometer signal, or no tachometer signal at all.
- Performing advanced machinery diagnosis away
from the machinery by "slicing and dicing" time waveform data with
powerful analysis tools.
- Creating impressive plots and tables of data to use in reports and presentations.
